Baby Wipe Ink Pad Card

Today I used my new stamp set 'Animal Stories' which I earned for free during Sale-A-Bration (there are two weeks left if you want to earn some stamp sets too!).
I wanted to do something different with the solid stamps, so rather than just inking them up in one color, I made a custom ink pad using a folded baby wipe (or folded kleenex with some rubbing alcohol) and dropped several drops of co-ordinating ink colors at random into it (in this case I used Mellow Moss, Apricot Appeal and Bashful Blue). Then I inked up my stamp in it and voila- a very cool effect!
I stamped two elephants on the background and a third on a scrap piece of paper which I cut out and mounted with Dimensionals to make it pop out (it's hard to see in the picture, sorry!)
I also stamped on a envelope to make it match too!

An Evening with Shelli Gardner

My demonstrator friend Kim Assly won the Workshop of a Lifetime Challenge, a day with Shelli Gardner, the CEO of Stampin' UP! In addition to organizing her own workshop for customers, Kim graciously also hosted a demonstrator event so that we all could meet Shelli too! It was an amazing night (Thanks KIM from all 140 of us!!) Shelli spoke to us about how she started Stampin up 20 years ago and answered questions; there were make & takes, swapping, dessert & coffee and lots of great socializing!
Here are some pictures: Me & Shelli,

, (Me & Sara, Shelli's daughter)
Josee (my upline in purple at the font) and our first line team photo with Shelli - plus, I asked her to sign my bone folder... I covered her signature with crystal effects so that it won't wear off, kinda crazy but it's fun!!

Check out Shelli's Blog for more about her visit to L'Original and other travels around the country!

Decor Elements: Thoughts & Prayers Tree

Last week I put up the Thoughts and prayers Decor Elements tree (large size #116004) -there was a big empty spot just asking for something special!

I started by cutting the image into the six sections as per the directions.

I used painters masking tape to position it on the wall.

My first try was too high and too far over to the left,

The next time I got it better- it's bigger than I thought, so I was a good idea do a test positioning!

Finally, I peeled off the grid paper and used the applicator to rub it onto the wall (my daughter wanted to help- she loves doing rub ons!) Voila!

Looks nice eh? (Go Canada Go!) a bit of Olympic cheer slipped out after our Canadians CREAMED Russia in Hockey last night!

Thoughts & Prayers Card

I finally got the "Thoughts and Prayers" stamp set I've been eyeing for months! Tonight I created my first card with it.

Step 1. Decide where the "moon" is going to go, then cut out a 1 3/8 circle out of scrap paper and adhere it to the background (Very Vanilla) cardstock with Dotto Adhesive.

Step 2. Use your brayer to roughly cover the background with More Mustard Ink. Remove the scrap circle.

Step 3. Ink the edges with close to cocoa using a sponge

Step 4. Stamp the Tree and Text using Chocolate Chip Ink

Step 5. Mount on background!

Blogging 101 for Demonstrators

Does setting up a blog intimidate you? Let me help!

In a small class setting, I'll teach you how to setup & maintain your own blog using blogger (free)- you can even publish on a custom domain (like mine, http://www.enjoystamping.com/) which I pay $10 a year for (less if you register for more than a year), but get all the cost savings of using a free blogging application.

There are lots of tools and tricks available to personalizing your blog - I'll show you the basics in this class:

  • Setting up your Blogger account
  • Custom domain options
  • Choosing a template and simple changes not requiring any HTML
  • How to use Headers, Watermarks & Signatures (we don't create them)
  • Working with gadgets- anything on the sidebars or footers - pictures, text, labels
  • Linking - within your blog and to anywhere else
  • Other tips & tricks
See for example: http://www.kronbergconsulting.com/ - This is a VERY simple blog which took about 10 minutes to setup (I don't blog most of my consults.. who wants to read about quickbooks?!!). Your blog can have pictures, links and colours as you like!

Bring your laptop and connect to my wireless internet (not required, but you can actually do the steps with me if you like, and have a finished blog by the time we're done!) I'll be demonstrating with my projector, so you can watch me do each step.

  • Date: TBA Spring 2010
  • Time: 7-9pm
  • Location: my home in Kanata Lakes
  • Cost: $35,

If you know the basics and want to learn how to do more (like the nav menus, 3 columns, backgrounds and more), please sign up for my Blogger 201 Class.

I also offer one-on-one customization or support later on if you need it.

Excel Class Planning Workshop

If you enjoy creating your own projects, or copying others, but get stuck between that step and making it a craft class, I've got a solution for you.

Do you find planning a class difficult?
Don't know how many supplies to buy?
Don't know if you earned any money from this class?

If you answered yes to any of these, you need some excel help! I've developed a spreadsheet in which I enter basic info like:

  • Number of participants
  • Cost of Class
  • Supplies Needed

The bottom line is, this tool will give you an estimated total of earnings in total, and per hour! If you change the number of participants, it re-calculates the supplies needed (taking into account how many things are per package). It uses simple equations which you don't need to create, but do need to learn to use!

This class assumes you know the very basics of a spreadsheet (basic math like addition & muliplication, creating totals). I'll teach you the rest. Bring your laptop if you have one (not required, but you'd be able to do things as I do them)

  • Date: TBA Spring 2010
  • Time: 7-9pm
  • Cost: $25,
  • Location: My house in Kanata Lakes

Blogging 201 for Demonstrators

In a small class setting, I'll teach you how to customize your blogger blog to be what you want it to be. Learn about:

  • Finding and using custom templates (like 3 columns or navigation bars)
  • Making changes to the html (wider columns, changing colours etc. if I can do it, so can you!)
  • Optimize for Search Engine Visibility (Tips)
  • Paypal, Feedburner, Feedjit, Link within
  • Using Google docs to link to custom documents & forms
  • Other useage, editing and Maintanance Tips and Tricks

Bring your laptop and connect to my wireless internet (not required, but you can actually do the steps with me if you like!) I'll be demonstrating with my projector, so you can watch me do each step.

If you're planning on taking this class and already have a blogger blog, please note that when you change templates, you lose all your sidebar gadgets. You'll have to recreate those you want.

  • Date: Spring 2010
  • Time: 7-9pm
  • Location: my home in Kanata Lakes
  • Cost: $35

I also offer one-on-one customization or support later on if you need or prefer it.
